My Journey

In February 2020, my world changed forever. My husband, Matt, passed away after courageously battling Stage 4 colon cancer for three and a half years. At just 37, I never imagined a future without him. We had three young children—ages 5, 6, and 7—and a teenage son. When he passed at 41, my first thought was, “How am I supposed to raise our children without him? How do I even begin to rebuild our life?”

The grief was overwhelming—and just two weeks later, the world shut down due to the pandemic, leaving me in a depth of isolation I could never have anticipated.

In my loneliness, I began searching for others who could understand the unique pain of loss. That’s when I discovered Never Alone, an incredible organization that supports young widows, especially those raising children. Six months after Matt’s passing, I attended one of their retreats in Nashville. That weekend changed everything—I finally felt seen, understood, loved, and supported.

As I connected with more women, both locally and online, I realized how many were navigating their own forms of loss—whether the loss of a spouse, a child, or a marriage—and how deeply they longed for a safe, supportive space to share, heal, and rebuild.

Out of that realization—and from my own journey of healing—came the vision for Melissa Blair Consulting (MBC). Founded in late 2024, MBC was created to walk alongside women as they navigate life after loss, helping them rebuild with purpose, confidence, and hope.

My heart is to remind every woman that even in the most painful chapters, there is still possibility, strength, and a beautiful future ahead.

Get to Know Melissa

I’m a mom, a friend, a daughter, a sister. I’m a youngest of 3 girls. Born and raised in MN. Went to college in Dallas, TX at Christ For the Nations. I found my way back to Midwest after graduation.

My journey has not been an easy one, I have been a single mom longer than I have been married. I’m striving to continue fighting forward and choosing joy each day.

Whether I’m balancing time with my 4 incredible children ( ages 25 to 10 ), stay active with a run through the Twin Cities or exploring new destinations, I embrace every opportunity to grow, learn and experience life’s adventures.

Staying active is a big part of who I am- whether it’s running, hiking, escaping somewhere warm in the winter months to recharge. I enjoy pushing myself both physically and mentally, and I’m always seeking ways to stay grounded while challenging myself to take on new experiences.

As a proud mom, I’m constantly inspired by the children. Their unique perspectives and zeal for life motivate me to be the best version of myself, both personally and professionally.

I love discovering new places, whether it’s a local restaurant, a cozy coffee shop, or a hidden gem in the city. I love connecting with people and value meaningful connections that come from those experiences.
